HHKB Hybrid Type-S Topre Silent 45g 60% Bluetooth PBT Mechanical Keyboard

When I first received the HHKB, I was a little disappointed, as it feels very close to the membrane keyboard (it is in fact!) and the cap is a little shaky. But as I use it more, I like it more. The actuating force is very small. The layout is unique and comfortable when you get used to it -- you don't need to move your hand too much when you type on it. Its Bluetooth is also as good as I can imagine -- it's very stable and connects rapidly.

My first Topre was a CoolerMaster, where I was immediately hooked on Topre. As a coder and high speed touch typist, I was so trepidatious about the layout, especially the lack of arrow keys and the position of the Ctrl and Backspace keys. It didn't take too long to get used to the arrow keys, and I did kick and scream a bit, but not nearly as difficult as it was for home/end and pgUp/pgDown which are getting better, BUT, the backspace and Ctrl keys became an immediate addiction and I now have lots of difficulties on normal keyboards as a result. The Ctrl key (where Caps Lock is) is so natural, as is the backspace key. Compared to Cherry Brown and Cherry Pink (Silenced Red), Topre is a much better experience to me. My fingers (at 61 years old) do get tired on the Cherrys and seem completely fine on the Topre. Once I got used to the pinky doing the Fn key, I can do so much with minimal hand movements. Yes, there's a period of time to get used to it, but its worth it. Finally, on reliability, I connect with Bluetooth to a Windows desktop. There is NO lag and it responds like a wired keyboard. The only issue I have is that I can't wake-up my computer with the keyboard, but it may be a setting on my end. Love the HHKB!

My favorite keyboard. This is just so nice to type on. The closest that comes to comparison other than another HHKB would be the Leopold FC660C silent Topre 45G. However, I think the metal casing on the Leopold doesn't make typing as enjoyable as this plastic case. Also, this is much lighter and convenient to use. The Bluetooth works flawlessly. I never have any connection issues as I switch it from one PC to another. Also, I think having 2 AA batteries is a lot better than having it charge. The key placement is a lot better than conventional keyboards, and the key mapping software is awesome. 10 out of 5!
