This is amazing
coming from browns this keyboard blows me away
I am never getting a cherry switch keyboard again
I hope matias catches on and starts making a higher variety of switches
I would like to see a dampened clicky be sold too
Also much quieter than browns and the sound it makes is much more bassey but satisfying
The downside is of course not many keycaps because it's a niche switch now, which is sad because I think ALPS and ALPS clones are much better than MX switches, even gaterons.
Pretty easy to use, some may dislike the function key location but I like it because it's easy to access the volume control from it
Also 3 usb pass-throughs, I am guessing they are 2.0s but still impressive

This is a top quality keyboard, as long as you're alright with the aesthetics of it.

I've been using mechanical keyboards for several years now, starting with a Das Keyboard back in 2008. I've gone through several different switch types over the years, between the rainbow of Cherry MX switches, buckling springs, and a couple ALPS variants. This is my first keyboard with Matias switches, which are themselves basically just a variant of ALPS switches.

The way I see it, the Matias Quiet Click switches on this keyboard are just about the perfect compromise between tactility and noise. However, maybe compromise isn't the right word here; they feel at least as tactile, if not more so, than Cherry MX Blues and Greens, and yet have none of the noise. If you've been using mechanical keyboards for a while, it'll probably be a little shocking just how quiet this keyboard is.

I should probably say something negative, so here goes: the keycaps are fine, but they're definitely still just ABS. It'd be nice to see Matias start selling their keyboards with PBT caps to achieve an even more premium feel. That's basically just nitpicking though, and for the moment, the keys still have plenty of texture to them. If you're the type that likes to buy custom caps to put on your keyboards, you might want to think twice about this particular board just because of the different stems that Matias (and all ALPS) switches use. There are very few customization options out there.

Overall, 5/5 on this board. The switches are truly great, and make up for any minor shortcomings of the keycaps. If you're considering something like Cherry MX Browns so you can have something with a tactile bump without making too much noise, definitely look at this keyboard instead. You won't regret it.
