Like a professional chef's blade, this keyboard does one thing well, and does it OUTSTANDINGLY well. Its hefty, it has no lightshow/backlight crap. It is ergonomically excellent and lets you type as fast as you can. it sold me with its durability combined with excellence in design. I had accumulated a small stack of crappy keyboards I kept meaning to fix but finally wanted a keyboard that would last. My Last Keyboard. Well this was it. I got this five years ago and use it daily for work and play. No problems ever. Even the lettering, though a bit worn, is still easily legible. Its become "invisible" to me in the sense that I now take it for granted. Comfortable and just the right amount of satisfying clicky with the Cherry brown switches I don't think I'll ever need another.
I had so many problems with this keyboard. The first one I ordered didn't work reliably under USB. The OS detected it, would accept a few keypresses, and then it disconnected. Curiously, it worked reliably under PS/2, but I wanted it to actually be a USB keyboard I paid for. So I exchanged it. Then, a few months after receiving the replacement, the new one started dying after being idle for a while. This happened on several different USB ports and six different machines from four manufacturers running four different operating systems.
In addition, when performing the initial return, MK insisted that it was "an issue with the computer hardware". This, despite me saying in my initial report that I observed the same behavior on six different computers from three different manufacturers. I cannot understand how it could be "an issue with the computer hardware" (whatever that means) when half a dozen different machines exhibit the same problem. This was my first experience with mechanical keyboards, and it was overall frustrating.
The quality of this keyboard is solid. It is a bit heavier than I thought, but every keystroke feels amazing.
Overall a decent keyboard. Looks great with the Liquid Wood KOBO frame. The Cherry Silent Reds feel as they should. Unfortunately, it has a severe acoustic issue: every time any key is struck, there is a pretty severe "pinging" sound. I did some further research and it looks like its due to the solid construction and the way that Filco keyboards are generally made.
I live in a quiet environment so I find it pretty unbearable.
I wouldn't really recommend this keyboard unless you're comfortable with a ringing sound every time you press a key.
In a time where every other mechanical keyboard manufacturer is focusing on cost savings, LED light shows, and macro keys, FILCO brings the industry back to its roots with a no-frills design, with a focus on a high-quality production that you can feel. If you are on the fence between ducky and filco cause you like the cheaper price of ducky, just go with Filco and forget the rgb madness. The only potential downside to this board is that it's manufactured by Costar, meaning you'll have to deal with costar stabilizers when changing keycaps. If I had to live in a world without Filco I'd probably just kill myself.
I bought this keyboard along with the space city frame, it is a filco so the quality is absolutely top notch. The frame is beautiful and reminds me of NASA. 5/7 would recommend buying.
This is the first filco keyboard I have ever owned and the first silent mechanical as well. I have tried das keyboardds, but this one shines so far above them. Very comfortable, quiet, and since it's TKL it makes the desk space so much cleaner and workable. I use it at work in close proximity to my co-workers (3ft), and no one can hear it.
Will buy again!
WOW, this is a super nice keyboard, amazing feel on the keycaps and switches, great key typing response, and very comfortable.
For me, a keyboard is like a carpenter's hammer. I use it all day, almost every day. This is probably the best keyboard I've every had (and I've over a dozen over the past 30 years).
This Filco Majestouch 2 TKL is worth every penny. It's great to find that Cherry makes the Silent Red MX switches!
Congrats to Filco for offering this model, and thanks to MechanicalKeyboards.com for selling it at a good price with speedy delivery :-)
This is better than I thought. It is really quite. Thank you.
