  • I am about to return this keyboard. The keys are great, sounds perfect, I love the feeling. What I do not love is the lack of media keys, the manual says something about suing FN win keys, but none of the keys work. Windows does not have key combinations for media keys and I cant be getting out of the game to raise and lower the volume. For a product this expensive, the instructions should be better, or at least have a support button on the Ducky webpage. I have search the Internet up and down to no avail. If you don't care about not having media keys in your keyboard, then this keyboard is perfect for you. I am pulling my hairs trying to figure it out. I wanted to like it because I am was born on a YOTR. It was perfect, until it arrived.

  • Well, this keyboard is beautiful. Feels great. It is a great conversation piece. I love all those factors. However, it has no media keys and the manual does not help. I can't even figure out how to program keys for media. It has that one page with combination of keys that do not work. If mid-game I want to raise or lower the volume, I have to tab out, go to the tray and get the volume up and down with the mouse, so I can't give it more than 3, unless someone tells me how to program the media keys. Or I will just have to put this keyboard on the Mac and use my Max Keyboard for gaming again.

  • Great keyboard. One of my favorite Ducky keyboards overall. Has a really solid build quality and the porcelain tile is absolutely stunning. The brown/copper frame is very unique and looks great. Keycaps are PBT which i am a very big fan of. They feel great and you get the quality you would expect from Ducky. Switches are the standard, got mine in cherry MX Brown due to OCD and them being my favorite switch. (brown frame, tile, and switches lol.) Physically this is the most beautiful Ducky board in my opinion, and my favorite by far. Keep in mind that the top frame is plastic, not aluminum like the Year of the Monkey, however I think that it fits this board better. It is still very sturdy and feels great. I might add that if you are used to having media keys on your keyboard you are out of luck, as they have been replaced by the porcelain tile. Personally, i don't mind, but this could be a deal breaker/issue for some people.

The LED%u2019s are not as bright as other ducky boards I own. I%u2019m not sure if my LED%u2019s are off, or its due to the black plate under the keys compared to white on other boards, but they are definitely a bit dimmer. Even with that, I still like it. Its subtler and less flashy, but keep in mind it could just be my keyboard that is like this. LED customization is the standard with all Ducky RGB boards, being able to change the lighting without software/anywhere. The only problem is this%u2026you have to learn the combinations for changing the lighting. There is no software that works with this keyboard as of my writing of this review. The Ducky Shine 6 Controller works with my Ducky Year of the Monkey and my Ducky Shine 6 Special Editions, but do not work with this keyboard. Multiple people have noted this, and I%u2019m sure Ducky will fix that. So, make sure you open up the manual and learn how to change the lighting, its useful to learn regardless and isn%u2019t that hard once you get the hang of it.

  • Great keyboard! It's surprisingly heavier and more solid feeling than my metal K70 despite this being plastic. The PBT keycaps feel fantastic. They have this gritty sort of texture and feel much, much nicer than ABS imo.

There are no media keys, but the keyboard is programmable. I was able to make my page up and page down keys into volume up/down in about 5 minutes with the manual.

There is also no lighting software. The colors and lighting effects are completely controlled through the keyboard itself. While some may find this tedious, I absolutely love interacting with the board rather than yet another RGB lighting software.

The pottery tile is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously. If you don't view making macros and personalizing your keyboard as a burden, then you will love and adore this keyboard. Well worth the money.

  • The keyboard overall is absolutely great. I for one love the switches, also absolutely love the pottery tile. The keyboard is completely stunning! Would definitely recommend picking up this keyboard if you can considering they are only being sold for 2017. Only thing that struck me off was i do not see any media keys whatsoever. But regardless stunning keyboard!

  • Great, but not perfect keyboard. As a preface, I own a Ducky Shine 5 w/reds, MK2016 (rebadged Ducky One) w/blues, and Deck Hassium w/browns. Directly comparing to the Shine 5, the backlighting on the YotR is not as good. Could be attributed to the PBT keycaps, which historically are not as good with backlighting compared to ABS, and partly due to the Shine 5 having a white interior (where the switches are mounted) which reflects backlighting better than the black interior of the YotR. Still, a very pretty keyboard, especially with that special handcrafted tile in the top-right. Actually, as another review said, the keyboard box itself is work of art in its own right. Anyway, I also noticed the keyboard didn't come with the plastic keyboard cover my other Duckys had, so that's a minor point off there too. Switches are switches, and up to personal preferences; that being said, for some reason the blues on this keyboard feel 'crisper' than the ones in my MK2016, but that my be because my MK2016 is being used as my work keyboard, so it's probably just wear. And for some reason, my keyboard is missing the backlighting mode before the 'wave' mode. And the keyboard case is still some sort of plastic as opposed to a metal one would expect for this pricepoint. Aside from these minor gripes, again still a great keyboard, and one I just had to have despite all my other mechs I own already because the Rooster is my year 8)

  • Don't get me wrong, the keyboard is great. There are some issues however that I was not expecting. For instance, one may expect the top of the case to be metal like the year of the monkey was, but it is plastic. Also, the shine 6 software does not seem to work with this keyboard. If you can get over these then I would definitely recommend the board, I just want to make sure everyone has a heads up, so you don't end up returning it like I'm going to have to do.

  • This keyboard is stunning! I have bought many mechanical keyboards including 4 from this site because there is always one thing about them that ends up not being exactly what I wanted. I have finally found the one.

The build and lighting on this keyboard are perfection. It has macros and customization, and extra doubleshot PBT keys are included along with a wire keycap puller. Even the packaging is like a work of art.

The centerpiece is the pottery tile. It makes me want to look down while I type. It says only 2017 were made so buy one while you can.
