They keyboard has a great feel and a great look, however the backlighting is not working at all. Can anyone help? I am trying the function Q to no avail. The one key that is backlit is the page up or down button do indicate the function mode. Please help.
Nice keyboard overall, but there is a metallic twang everytime I press a key, it's subtle, but it's very noticeable when the room is quiet. It's like the twang when you flick a taught wire.
Pros: I like the layout a lot, I really like how the insert and delete keys are where they should be on a normal full layout. I like the colours of the keys, and the compass points on the arrow keys are a nice touch. The lifting legs, whatever they're called, have a nice feeling rubber foot on them. I also like that the keyboard came with an extra caps lock and page up key with a clear plastic window on them, so you can tell when caps lock is on or differentiate between the number row being set to number mode or F key mode. The colourscheme on this board is beautiful, and I love it and am looking forward to keeping it for years to come.
Cons: The keyboard didn't come with a manual or any sort of instructions! I had to find someones reddit post where they posted photos on imgur of the manual they received. The aforementioned twang of not enough sound deadening on the plate on which the switches are mounted. The light blue keys are translucent while all the other keys are very opaque, so when the backlighting is turned on, even the lowest setting, the structure of the keycap shines through the light blue ones, and on maximum you can't see through any other keycaps(I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing issue where the plastic on the light blue ones wasn't thick enough?). The font and printing for functions on the front side of the keys is slightly different between the colours of the caps. There are very few function shortcuts (only 5!!) compared to almost every key on my girlfriends Ducky One 2 Mini SF (for significantly less money!). I didn't realize there wouldn't be a function shortcut for volume up, down, mute, play/pause, next song, previous song, etc. I know I can set up an autohotkey script to do it for me, which I have done, but it's still a bit of a downer. It wouldn't be hard to do. Other thing that's a bit of a letdown, the function key on the keyboard doesn't send a signal to the PC so it cannot be used in autohotkey scripts. I've seen youtube videos where these varmilo miya pro keyboards have all sorts of lighting effects accessed through FN q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o,p. This keyboard doesn't do any of that, the only two lighting effects are solid on, or 'breathe'. Perhaps that's only for the non MAC versions, perhaps that's only for the RGB miya pros? I'm not sure. The keycaps feel very nice, but when using the Ducky One 2 Mini SF, that keyboards keycaps have more of a sandpapery feel compared to this keyboards, these are very slightly textured on top but quite smooth.
I'm happy with the purchase of this keyboard, but the subtle 'twang' every time I press a key is very prevalent in my experience typing.
Wow, just wow.
I'll report back after using it for a bit, but my first impression is that this a work of art. It's heavy and well constructed. Keys have a matte texture to them. The brown switches are smooth and satisfying. The colors are striking but not distracting.
I'll have to play with the functionality and report back!
Keyboard works great, the only annoying thing is it didn't include an instruction manual which caused some issues when trying to figure out the keyboard shortcuts. fn pgup turns off key function mode, fn pg down turns key functions back on, fn left arrow breathing mode, fn up increase solid backlight, fn down decrease backlight
This keyboard feels and sounds amazing. Even my Ducky Shine 6 that this Ducky x Varmilo MIYA Pro Summit is replacing doesn't quite feel as solid as this. I can say that this is the highest quality mech keyboard that I have ever owned. Also my first time getting a mech keyboard that isn't a full size. Again, I love this thing. I got the Summit mousepad to match it too.
