After the Great Fire of 1910, communities banded together nationally in the United States to protect their forests. Watchtowers were constructed as guardians of our national forests populated by individuals called “Lookouts”. Over the years the Lookouts encountered almost complete isolation to ensure that our forests survive for future generations and to benefit the globe. To this day approximately 196 of these towers still exist in the US. Each tower exhibits unique styles that combine design with engineering.
