Topre Realforce RC1 75% Bluetooth Keyboard

The RC1: Exceeds all my expectations. Been wondering about these Topre boards for years. Never quite worked up the excitement to make the leap (price, availability). Boy was I missing out! I'm not a big keyboard guy or anything - had a couple of switch types over the years, entry-mid level stuff, blues, browns, tried some lubed glorious pandas. They felt pretty good... That is until I tried this. The difference in quality and feel between every other KB I've had and this one is STAGGERING.

I was worried I would have buyer's remorse. I have the opposite: I should have made the leap years ago. Literally millions of keystrokes wasted!

If you've used a Realforce board before, you know what to expect. The quality, look, sound and feel are as good or better than any of the 10 or so Realforce boards I've already owned. I have 2 issues with this one, although they aren't enough to warrant lowering the rating. Issue one is the rubber feet. All four of them are covering screw holes and removing them to access the screw holes ended up tearing a layer of the feet off. Getting inside may present warranty issues, but that's my choice and I'd still like to lube all the sliders. Issue two is the size and location of the right shift key. I keep hitting the up arrow. I'll eventually get used to it, but it's annoying at the moment.

I am a huge Topre fan - I have been using them since Coolermaster’s novatouch- the touch and thock of this keyboard is perfect and it was customizable to more closely match my HHKB. I wanted this for the convenience of Fkeys and some dedicated arrow keys. All was perfect except for the placement of the right shift key which is the same size as any other letter key. It is just too small and my finger just couldn’t get used to it - I was constantly hitting the arrow up to its right. For me as a vintage touch typist, I just couldn’t adapt. If the right shift was ever so slightly bigger, this would be my new fav.

I'm not going to say it's better than a mechanical keyboard. It's just different. I got the 30 gram variant, and it's so easy to type on. Easily the least fatiguing keyswitch I have ever used. Comfortable bottom out, nice travel. Not the best for gaming, but good. Best for typing I think however. Is my new primary keyboard out of the 10 I could choose from. Unlike all the crappy membrane keyboards out there, this one is consistent in it's actuation, and doesn't require bottoming out. We'll built and designed.

Though not fully satisfied with everything, it is better than any mechanical keyboard I owned (ducky one 2 mini, logitech mx mechanical wireless - not the top of the line but still).

Reason for 4 stars - out of the box it had really weird phantom key presses because of high sensitivity. When the key action threshold was too low, keys were being pressed randomly without any interaction - which rendered my computer unusable, obviously :D updating the firmware resolved this however and I can use the highest sensitivity without the issue.
