I upgraded from a keyboard which also had cherry mx red switches, and somehow the the typing experience is so much nicer on this keyboard. Overall, the keyboard feels incredibly solid. What blew me away though is how none of the modifier keys (space, enter, shift) rattled at all. The only thing I have to complain about is that, while the keyboard has a detachable cable (a big plus), the connector on the keyboard is mini usb, rather than the more durable type C.
I got this with cherry browns and the sound and feel is incredible, though I have only ever used cheap keyboards prior to this. One thing to note is that the colors on mine turned out much lighter than what it seems in the pictures. The darker keys look black in the pictures but are really more of a charcoal, while the lighter keys are a very light gray. Although it isn't exactly what I was expecting, I still think it looks fantastic.
I love this keyboard. It's very solid and the keycap shape is nice. The design is unobtrusive without giant ugly logos everywhere. I don't get any unwanted double keypresses from chattering keys.
There were so much said before me about this keyboard, so i can't really add much. The build quality is the best with genuine cherry switches and stabs that are pre-lubed. Keycaps are super nice with simple and clean lettering. The best keyboard i've ever had.
Got Cherry MX Black
Oh man I really love this keyboard. The smoothness was amazing and the key swithces were pre-lubed. That being said the sounds of the shifts, backspace, enter and space all felt solid which all give a solid, warm sound. No rattling. Bottoming out on this keyboard is really satisfying. It makes me wish I had more to type because geez this keyboard is awesome. I'll probably look into another keyboard from this brand. I love it so much.
First time experiencing the cherry blacks, from what I understand it's an old school switch, with a high actuation force (60Cn). Getting used to the stiffer key press after using a mx brown keyboard for years. I do like the smooth action. I also like this color scheme it's visually appealing. Came boxed very nicely with a keycap puller too. Feels very solid and well made. Great starting point for some fun TKL times. I'll most likely swap out the keycaps.
The only downside I noticed was that the PBT keycaps that come with this board are not translucent, so the light only comes out between the keys. If typing in the dark you won't see the actual characters on the keycaps, just around the borders of the keys themselves. Otherwise I'm very pleased with my purchase, and MK.com shipped it very quick. Overall I recommend.
I use this for gaming, and I really enjoy the very quiet keys. These are quieter than MX Brown, and even quieter than membrane, while still being a joy to type on. The switches feel the same as regular MX Reds, but with a noticeable dampening of the bottoming out.Despite being a plastic case, it's incredibly sturdy.
If there was one nitpick, it would be the LEDs being on the bottom of the keys, rather than the top. This means fewer shine-through keycap sets can take advantage of the lighting. I'm going to try out a side print keycap set to see how it looks.
I bought this keyboard because I have experience using MX Blues with other keyboards and really enjoy the switch, and I think that this keyboard is one of the most aesthetically pleasing that you can buy. That, and Varmilo seems to have a pretty good reputation for build quality. Unfortunately, I don't know if I got a dud or this is just how this keyboard is, but I find it significantly more difficult to depress the keys on this keyboard than any other MX Blue keyboard I've used. I've been using it for about four months now and the problem hasn't changed at all. This is by far the slowest keyboard I have access to in terms of WPM for me, and really it's just not that fun to type on. I'm typing this review on my dad's MX Brown RK-9000V2 right now simply because I'm tired of using this keyboard. Despite this problem, I will still give the VA87M 3 stars because its build quality, form factor, key caps, color scheme, and floating design are awesome and are hard to find outside of this particular keyboard. Unfortunately I'll probably be selling mine on ebay and going with a different keyboard in the future.
