I bought this keyboard after owning a Rosewill, a corsair strafe, and a corsair K70. I can say without a doubt in my mind this is the best keyboard I have owned. The floating keys have great illumination and the LEDs are incredibly vibrant. The mouse bungee doesnt work as well as I would like, but it is decent. Ducky has sold me on this and I will be purchasing again from MechanicalKeyboards!
Pre-ordered this keyboard ahead of time, came to my house pretty quickly really like this keyboard. One thing to note is that this keyboard comes with a blank spacebar in case you don't like the rooster one. Overall great keyboard only problem I have is the wiring. The wiring doesn't seem that great but overall great keyboard and amazing service from mechanicalkeyboards
Great keyboard. Beautiful lighting modes. Solidly built. Flashy but not in an overly done way, flashily subdued if you will. Love that it doesn't require drivers or special software. It has software if you chose to use it but it doesn't run in the background. Just set your stuff and close it. I hate bloaty software and this was a major deal for me. I was so tired of Razer Synapse. ugh! Anyways, the only fault I can find with this keyboard so far is that the special year of the rooster spacebar isn't a floating keycap, its full size which looks sort of funny next to all the other half keycaps. Other than that it is as close to perfect as you can get in my opinion. This is my first Ducky keyboard, I think I will be a Ducky guy for life. I gave a 4 because I haven't had it for very long, I will update this after I have had it for a while.
Just to get it out there, this keyboard does not have the new seamless letter keycaps.
On to the actual review, this is my first mechanical keyboard and so my experience is limited. My impressions are pretty great though. I thought the keyboard was going to feel light due to the plastic construction, but it actually weighs a fair bit and it does not flex at all. It easily puts my old keyboard to shame, which was a Saitek Eclipse 3. The LEDs are really vivid, but not eye burning bright. The controls for the lights are pretty easy to figure out using the manual. The floating keycaps do not jiggle or feel loose despite having less material and traditional keycaps. The white matte finish of the keyboard body is quite lovely. The keys are equally as pleasant feeling. The white is a lot nicer to see in person than it is on the photos online. The RGB colors come off as slightly pastel (More so Red) in my opinion, but I haven't seen other RGB boards to judge against though.
I'm using the silver cherry MX switch and I primarily do content creation so mostly typing and very little gaming. I was worried that maybe the switch was going to be bad for me, but it's worked out well for me so far. I actually like how easy the keys are to press and the shorter travel distance. However, my typing is not the best, but I haven't seen any more errors than with my previous keyboard. That being said, you should try to demo each switch type before buying at a local store if possible.
